What if...

I've grown up in little town in Perak that adores good food. My family is small (but not the generation before mine, it's huge); so just my parents and a brother who is six years older than me. But there is also another person who is a year my senior that has been there for me ever since I was born….my mum's goddaughter, whom I fondly call 'chey'…means sis. My parents almost adopted her.

What if they did? Will there be 'me'? Will there be wytalks? Haha!

My godsis's mum is a Christian and very active in church. So Sis became a Christian at a very young age. She is now married to a wonderful guy who is a pastor and they have a son. She has such great personality and touched a lot of people's life, including mine.

What if Sis was not exposed to Christianity? Will her life be the same?

During one school holidays when I was in Std Four, I followed Sis to church. Not long after that I accepted Christ. However, I received strong objection from my parents. It was only in upper secondary school that I get to go to Church, Sunday School and Youth Fellowship more often.

What if Sis was not firm in her belief? Will my life still the same?

My life has changed since then. Sis not only introduced me to Christianity, she has been my best pal, friend. Lending me an ear to my grouses and complaints, a shoulder to cry on, a friend to play with, exchanging paper dolls, sharing laughter together, hugging dad as we go for evening walk, a shopping partner...

What if we didn't live under the same roof first few years of our lives and spend most of the school holidays together? Will our relationship remain the same?

Thank You, Lord for bringing Suzanne into my life. Sis, this song is for you…

I dreamed I went to heaven
And you were there with me;
We walked upon the streets of gold
Beside the crystal sea.
We heard the angels singing
Then someone called your name.
We turned and saw a young man running
And he was smiling as he came.

And he said, "Friend you may not know me now."
And then he said, "But wait,
You used to teach my Sunday School
When I was only eight.
And every week you would say a prayer
Before the class would start.
And one day when you said that prayer,
I asked Jesus in my heart."

Thank you for giving to the Lord.
I am a life that was changed.
Thank you for giving to the Lord.
I am so glad you gave.

Then another man stood before you
And said, "Remember the time
A missionary came to your church
And his pictures made you cry.
You didn't have much money,
But you gave it anyway.
Jesus took the gift you gave
And that's why I'm here today."

Thank you for giving to the Lord.
I am a life that was changed.
Thank you for giving to the Lord.
I am so glad you gave.

One by one they came
Far as the eye could see.
Each life somehow touched
By your generosity.
Little things that you had done,
Sacrifices made,
Unnoticed on the earth
In heaven, now proclaimed.

And I know up in heaven
You're not supposed to cry
But I am almost sure
There were tears in your eyes.
As Jesus took your hand
And you stood before the Lord.
He said, "My child, look around you.
Great is your reward."

Thank you for giving to the Lord.
I am a life that was changed.
Thank you for giving to the Lord.
I am so glad you gave.

Thank you for giving to the Lord.
I am a life that was changed.
Thank you for giving to the Lord.
I am so glad you gave.

In our everyday life there are so many what if, so many uncertainties, so many regrets. But there are also many blessings…having grown up with Sis is one of my many, many blessings.

Sigh....you are absolutely right. Life is certainly filled with WHAT-IFs!!!

If I dwell in them any longer, think I will go slightly insane and rather bitter!

We are seldom satisfied with what we have...

Have to learn to count my blessings!
