Last Saturday morning, hubby brought us to KL Bird Park at Lake Gardens, Kuala Lumpur. It was a bright sunny day. We had hats for the girls and cap for hubby. Plain water, UHT Chocolate and biscuit packed. Map book in the car. From Puchong to Federal Highway, Jln Bangsar, passed National Museum and Railway Station. Then we reached The Lake Gardens. Missed the turning towards Bird Park at first but we managed to reach there referring to the map found in KLBirdPark .
I was pretty impressed with the place. I have been to Singapore Zoo, Jurong Bird Park Chiangmai Night Safari but not even our own National Zoo. (Terrible!!!) The KL Bird Park is divided into four zones ie Zone 1 and 2 make up the free-flight zone; Zone 3 is the Hornbill Park and Zone 4 is where the birds are placed in separate cages and mini aviaries. Other attractions are water falls, shows at Amphitheatre, and the Bird Gallery and Educational Centre.
Feeding sessions mainly is throughout the day but the highlight has to be The Bird Show that only comes on at 12.30 pm and 3.30 pm. An additional show at 10.30 am on public holidays. The show is very similar to the one we saw at Singapore Sentosa Island and Hong Kong Ocean Park. A parrot cleverly cycle across the show area, birds doing tricks and eagle flying over us and also picking up food from a spectator (a helper standing behind). My children really enjoyed the show.
The park actually is quite shaddy with trees all over and some walk way is covered with nets (in case droppings fall on our heads). However, it was quite tiring to walk and due to hot weather we couldn’t resist the temptation of ice cream and cold drinks (priced higher) to cool us down.
The KL Bird Park is very worth a visit. If you are bringing toddlers or babies, do remember to bring stroller. Admission rate for Mykad holders is RM15 per adult and RM6 per child (3 – 12 years old). Please check out their joint promotions in case you are any of the card holders. I could have saved RM14 if I knew earlier! Can have more ice-creams then…hahaha!
