Hometown Trips - Muar...Ipoh

I was looking forward to my trip back to Ipoh as I have not been back since Chinese New Year (end January). But first back to Muar, to my in-laws place.

2nd Mid Term school break (August) - Trip to Muar

Highlight of our this time was plucking duku langsat at a fruit plantation belongs to my mother-in-law's friend. This season has not been raining, so the duku langsat and duku fruits were small and not worth harvesting to sell. We were like small kids taking as many fruits as we can, plucking them and trying to fill our bags. But the bags were never full. We were bitten by mosquitos, insects and ants. Black ants, red ants and huge mosquitos kept following us. Our efforts really got blood & sweat! Next time go prepared with repellent.

Why bags were not full? Thanks to me. I vomitted. Breakfast & lunch all came out fertilising the plants. So we went back to the friend's house to rest...after a while continue another part of the plantation. Just a short time, plucking from duku trees only. I think altogether we managed to pluck not less than 20kgs of duku langsat and duku.

Our trip to Muar is never complete without visiting the famous Tanjung, where you'll find monkeys living in a mangrove by the Muar River. A bridge was built recently towards the river cutting through the mangrove giving you an inside view. Interesting.

Whenever my mom make bak chang, she definitely get special order from me. Lots of lard, lots of lap cheong and lots of mushroom. She will always complain that she doesn't know how to wrap the bak chang I want...overloaded!
